VSF Board of Directors: Alan Cook

Treasurer

Alan Cook currently serves as Treasurer of Veteran Support Foundation. In the beginning, when VSF ( VVAF) was in it's infancy, Alan was the Treasurer of VVAF. Alan was treasurer when VVAF started purchasing our homes.

Alan Cook served 6 years (three terms) as Treasurer of Vietnam Veterans of America. A member of VVA since 1985, he helped form VVA Chapter 400 in Oakland, California, serving as its treasurer. He also served as treasurer of the California State Council for ten years. Alan currently holds a position with VVA California state council as Vice- president.. He has been a member of VVA's National Board of Directors as well as Director of Region 9 (Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and California).

Born in San Francisco and raised in the San Francisco area, Cook enlisted in the U.S. Army upon graduating from high school in 1971. He served in Vietnam with the transportation motor pool based at Long Binh and the 716th MP's in Saigon. Following his tour of duty in Southeast Asia, he completed his enlistment at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

After returning home, Cook took advantage of the GI Bill and obtained a degree in business administration. Shortly after graduation, he accepted a position with an investment-banking firm in his hometown. He has remained there for 30 years and is now CFO.

Alan and his wife Cindy have three children – Jessica, Danny, and Steven. Both sons have followed their father by enlisting in the Army and are both veterans of the current middle east conflicts. Alan Cook's family's service in the military can be traced back to the Civil War.
